Abstract
In this paper, experimental studies on effects of MgO content on high temperature properties of high alumina blast furnace slag were carried out in the laboratory. The viscosity of slag was measured by the method of rotation and the melting point of slag was measured by the method of deformation. The results showed that when w(Al2O3)17% in slag,MgO content should be 12% and w(CaO)/w(SiO2) should be 1.05 so as to maintain lower melting point, better fluidity and good desulfurization capacity. In addition,MgO content has little effect on the melting point of high alumina blast furnace slag but has obvious effect on its viscosity.
