Abstract
Ethyl coumarin-3-carboxylate was synthesized from salicylaldehyde and diethyl malonate using diethylamine as catalyst promoted by microwave irradiation. The effect of microwave power, ratio of reagents, contents of catalyst, microwave irradiation time and amount of solvent on the yield was to investigated by orthogonal design method. When the molar raio of salicylaldehyde∶diethyl malonate∶diethylamine =1∶1.3∶0.3,the irradiation time of 600W was 4 min and 5mL ethanol was used, the yield of ethyl coumarin-3-carboxylate was 88.8%.
