Abstract

Objective To compare with the effect of levofloxacin-based quadruple and omeprazole-based triple therapy on the treatment of duodenal ulcer with Helicobacter pylori(Hp)infection. Methods Totally 60 patients with duodenal ulcer and Hp infection were randomly divided into treatment group(30 cases)treated with levofloxacin(200 mg),furaltadone(200 mg),famotidine(20 mg)ad pctin bismuth(100 mg)twice dail for 7 days then famotiding(20 mg)twince daily for 3 weeks, and control group(30 cases)treated with omeprazole(20 mg),arilin(400 mg)and clarithromycin(500 mg)twice daily for 7 days then omeprazole(20 mg)twince dily for 3 weeks. After four weeks of the treatment,re-examination of gastroscopy and Hp infection were performed. And abdominal pain relief rate, ulcer healing rate and eradication rate of Hp as well as adverse effects of the medication were evaluated and compared between groups. Results There was no significant difference in rate of symptomatic relief and extinction time of symptom between treatment and control groups at 1st and 3rd week after treatment.Ulcer healing rate and Hp eradication rate were 76.7% and 80% in control group and 73.3% and 83.3% in treatment group, respectively, which showing no significant differences between the two groups(P0.05).The adverse effects of the medication were rare in both groups without significant differences. Conclusion Levofloxacin-based quadruple therapy has the same effect on eradication of Hp infection and promotion of duodenal ulcer healing with good tolerance as omeprazole-based triple therapy.
