Abstract
Diethylene glycol dibenzoate was carried out with benzoic acid and diethylene glycol as raw mate-rial. The optimized reaction conditions were determined and the products were characterized by infrared spectrum and nuclear magnetic resonance, which proved the existence of characteristic absorption peaks of DEDB. The re-sults show that the optimized synthesis conditions of DEDB are as follows: n(benzoic acid):n(diethylene glycol)=2.0:1.1, reaction temperature 180℃, reaction time 5h, the dosage of toluene18%(based on the mass of benzoic acid), and the dosage of catalyst 0.8%(based on the mass of benzoic acid). In this reaction conditions, reaction esterification is98.2%.
