The Diagnostic Value of Dynamic Enhanced MR Imaging for Special Types of Breast Cancer

Objective To assess the diagnostic value of dynamic enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) in special types of breast cancers.Methods The dynamic enhanced MRI features of 13 patients with histopathologically verified special types of breast cancers were reviewed.Results Characteristic MRI representations were found in 6 cases of multicentric breast cancer, 4 cases of multifocal breast cancer and 2 cases of occult breast cancer.Extensive and multiform lesions without characteristic were found in one case of inflammatory breast cancer.Conclusion Dynamic enhanced MRI of the breast is of great value for diagnosing of occult breast cancer, multicentric and multifocal breast cancers. The diagnosis of inflammatory breast cancer should be combined with clinic informations and be differentiated with the acute mastitis.
