Abstract
Objective To investigate the prevention measures related to the intracranial infection after external ventricular drainage. Methods According to drainage time and way, patients were assigned into treatment group and control group. The drainge time of treatment group was less than 7 days. The drainge time of control group was more than 7 days.In the treatment group drainage tube was placed through subcutaneous tunnel while in the control group drainage tube was placed through incision directively. Results The intracranial infection rate of treatment group was significantly lower than that of control group(P0.05).The good prognosis rate of treatment group was significantly higher than that of control group(P0.05).Conclusion Controlling drainage time less than 7 days and placing drainage tube through subcutaneous tunnel can prevent effectively intracranial infection after external ventricular drainage.
