Retrospecting and Rethinking the Study of "Zheng" and "Bian" in "Yuan Shi"

Yie Xie's Shi(On the Origin of Poetry) subverts the concepts of advocatiog Zheng and urging Bian in traditional poetics by dispelling the traditional dualistic mode of thinking,which has gteat important significance of poetics.But in the past,the study of Yie Xie's thought failed to distinguish the mutiple meaning of Bian,and the verbal Bian(chang)and the substantival Bian(variant)were confused,or the existence of the latter was ignored,or even used change instead ofvariant.All of these caused unreasonable misreading and had misled understanding and evaluating of Yuan Shi.
