Abstract

Objective To explore the value of MSCT in diagnosing of appendicitis. Methods MSCT manifestations of 81 cases with the appendicitis which were confirmed by surgery and pathology from May 2009 to May 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Among 81 cases of patients,35 cases were simple acute appendicitis,20 cases were simple chronic appendicitis,26 cases were periappendicural abscess. The CT findings of acute appendicitis mainly included enlargement, thickening of appendix wall, vague border, increased density, and calculus, which was visible sometimes. The appendix irregular appearance and adhesion signs were visible in chronic cases. There were moderate to severe inflam-matory change in the cases of appendicitis abscess with visible abscess and vonica. Conclusion The examination of MSCT has significant value for the diagnosis of appendicitis.Especially, the coronary reconstruction of MSCT can show the appendix location and the around changes of lesions before operation, and provide a reference for clinical preoperative preparation.
