Abstract

Objective To evaluate color Doppler ultrasonography in detecting the changes of blood flow of umbilical artery in patients with preeclampsia before and after treatment. Methods The systolic/diastolic(S/D) ratio and resistance index(RI) in umbilical arteries of 60 cases with preeclampsia were measured before and after the therapy, and 60 cases of normal pregnancy were served as controls. Results The S/D, and RI values of preeclampsia patients before treatment were higher than those of controls(t=4.97,19.78,P0.01). The values lowered significantly after the therapy, the difference was significant compared with the values before treatment (t=2.34,18.34,P0.01). There was no significant difference compared with the control group(t=1.06,1.61,P0.05). Conclusion Color Doppler ultrasonography is of definite value to measure blood-flow changes in umbilical artery in patients with preeclampsia before and after treatment, which is of important reference for assessment of intra-uterine fetus and appraisal the prognosis of the perinatal baby.
