On Poetic Value & Artistic Potentiality of Literature

Through a comparative analysis of several views on literary value and fumctions in the history of literature and art theory,this paper puts forward the peculiar literary value called poetic value,which is distinguished from that in socililgy,psychology and ethic.at same time it points out thatreality formis the right place where poetic value of art stands.The paper also discusses that,in the modern cultural context,literature displays great artistic potentiality in the 3 aspects:emancipating function,criticizing function and overpassing function.
