Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate effects of rations containing Gyrtostemma on the immune functions of weaning piglets.A total of 240 piglets at 21days old were selected and assigned randomly into four groups, with three replicates in each group and 20 pigs in each replicate(half male and half female). The piglets in each group had statistically nonsignificantly different body weight. The piglets in the control group were fed basal ration. The piglets in group I,group II and group Ⅲ were fed the basal ration supplemented with Gyrtostemma at 0.5%,1.0% and 2.0% ration respectively. The trial period was 28 d.The results showed that serum levels of total IgA,IgG,IgM and C3 and C4 rose with the increasing level of Gyrtostemma at 0.5%,1% in ration, which were significantly different from control group and group Ⅲ.Ration on performance, antioxidant capacity and immune function had significant difference(P0.05).The rations supplemented with Gyrtostemma at 2.0%.were not significantly different from the control group(P0.05).On the whole, the rations supplemented with Gyrtostemma at 1.0%.had the best effects on the weaning piglets.
