Authenticity of Xiao Tong's Poems

Abstract

Scholars today acknowledge only 27 poems as written by Xiao Tong,but the authors of this paper,after investigating various literary anthologies,conclude that 34 poems are unquestionably his while 8 others are in limbo of his authorship.The anthologies compiled in Ming Dynasty are too messy to be used as evidence.Many of Xiao Tong's poems have been mistakenly attributed to Xiao Gang,which has caused a confusion of the different styles of the two poets.
