Abstract

ADSL, which means Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, is a new broadband access technology proposed today while the user access network is to transform from the local telephone loop to the fiber network under the background of high developing internet technology. Without changing the current local telephone loop, ADSL introduces asymmetric modulation and demodulation technologies to implement the high access to the Intcrnet and makes the multimedia services come true. This articles presents the status quo, the characteristics and the principles of this technology and compares it with other traditional access methods.
