Abstract

Allusion is a common rhetoric device in composing poetry and prose.The Six Dynasties and the Northern Son Dynasty witness much discussion about allusion in poetry,while after the Southern Song Dynasty,scholars start studying allusion in various sorts of prose along with the change in the examining subjects of the imperial examination and the rise of rhetorics.The allusion and alluding approach in prose of the Song and the Yuan Dynasties trace back to the alluding approach in poetry,but both alluding approaches in poetry and in prose have their own features.Allusion is frequently appear in modern prose and even in oral language,and therefore there is still life and pragmatic value in the alluding approach summed up in the rhetorics in Song and Yuan Dynasties.
