Abstract
A preamplifier for the STM-64(10 Gb/s)optical receiver in SDH system is realized by using UMC 0.13 μm CMOS technology. The RGC(Regulated Cascode) configuration is employed in the preamplifier because of its low input resistance.Meanwhile,in order to enlarge the dynamic range of the input signal, the DC-Cancellation is introduced into the circuit.Post simulation results show that the preamplifier has differential transimpedance gain of 57.6 dBΩ,-3 dB bandwidth of 10.7 GHz,the average noise current spectral density of 18.76 pA/sqrt(Hz) and the DC power dissipation of 21 mW at a single 1.2 V supply. The dynamic range of the input signal is 40 dB(10 μA~1 mA).The die area is 0.462 mm×0.566 mm.
