Abstract

Based on the functionalist translation approaches and relative theories concerned, conclusions can be drawn from probing into the principles and approaches of tourism translation which features informative and expressive functions. Therefore, Skopos Theory, which is the kernel concept of functionalist approaches, is the orientation for the tourism translation. This paper proposes that text-type classification, functional equivalence and communicative translation are the basis of flexible translation for tourism. Meanwhile, Nord’s fidelity theory guarantees the quality of tourism translation. It can be concluded that tourism translation should be flexible and dynamically equivalent.
