Abstract
The water quality of Dongjiang River in Huizhou was evaluated by comprehensive water quality identification index in the year of 2011. Results showed that water quality of the mainstream reached the standard, and water of Xizhijiang River and Danshui River were seriously polluted. The water quality decreased from the upper to the lower mainstream. In comparison of dry season, water quality of the mainstream of the River was more severely contaminated in flood season. However, the tributary was the opposite. The point sources of pollution were the main source of pollution in which ammonia nitrogen was the characteristic pollutant in the River. Based on the results, some comprehensive countermeasures would be proposed to protect the water environment.
