Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between the irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and the plasma motilin (MOT) and cholecystokinin(CCK) levels. Methods The patients with IBS were divided into pain with diarrhoea group and pain with constipation group. Plasma motilin and cholecystokinin levels were detected by radiioimmunoassay in both two IBS groups and in normal group. Results The results showed that MOT and CCK levels of pain with diarrhoea group was higher than that of pain with constipation group and of the normal group respectively, ( P 0.05 ). Though the plasma MOT and CCK levels of pain with constipation group were lower but higher than that of the normal group, they had no significance ( P 0.05).Conclusion Plasma MOT and CCK have an intimate relations with pain and diarrhoea group of IBS which indicates that the higher concentrations of plasma MOT and CCK might be factors in the pain with diarrhoea group of IBS.
