Abstract

Objective To observe the expression of S100A4, S100A6, S100P mRNA in human pancreatic carcinoma, and to explore the distributions of S100 subtypes and the relationship between the subtypes and the genesis and development of pancreatic carcinoma. Methods In 20 samples of pancreatic carcinoma tissue and 20 samples of adjacent normal pancreatic tissue, S100 family mRNA expressions were detected by RT-PCR. Results S100A4, S100A6, and S100P mRNA in pancreatic carcinoma were highly expressed as compared with normal pancreatic tissue (P0. 01). The expression level of S100A4 mRNA was significantly correlated with the differentiation degree, invasion and metastasis of pancreatic carcinoma(P0. 01). S100A6 and S100P had no obvious relationship with the differentiation degree, tumor size, invasion and metastasis of pancreatic carcinoma(P0. 05). Conclusions S100 family play a certain role in the development of pancreatic cancer. S100A4 was related with the differentiation degree, invasion and metastasis of pancreatic carcinoma, but S100A6 and S100P were no correlated with clinical pathology of tumor.
