Abstract

With the deepening of China's reform and opening up, building modern culture has become more and more important and is an imminent task which should not be neglected. Building Chinese culture is the development of an organic system. Mainstream culture, elite culture and mass culture are basic culture elements of this system. The paper makes an accurate analysis of the developments of three cultures. Furthermore, the author holds that the relationship among three cultures must be dealt with properly in the course of their development, so that each of them may take on its own responsibility to achieve the common value goal of the building of a culture oriented to China's modernization.
