Abstract
Objective To investigate the changes in common bile duct diameter, pressure and serum bilirubin after obstructive jaundice in rats. Methods Seventy Wistar rats weighing 250~300g were used in this study. Part of the rats were inflicted with obstructive jaundice through ligation of common bile duct (experimental group). The level of common bile duct diameter, pressure and serum bilirubin metabolism were measured on the 0, 1st, 3rd, 5th,7th, 14th, 21th day after the ligation. Results The level of common bile duct diameter and pressure was the highest in operation 7th and then maintained the level. The level of serum bilirubin was the highest in operation 3th and then descended. Conclusion The curve of serum bilirubin metabolism in rat is different with human being.
