Analysis of common diseases surveillance results among students in Hangzhou city in 2009- 2011

Objective To understand the incidence rate and influencing factors of common diseases among primary and middle school students in Hangzhou,and to provide scientific evidences for development of effective prevention and treatment measures. Methods In monitoring schools of Hangzhou,annual health examination was carried out on students to monitor and analyze the data of eyesight,malnutrition,obesity,dental caries,trachoma and other common diseases. Results In school- year of 2009- 2010,the incidence rates of common diseases including malnutrition,obesity,poor eyesight,trachoma and dental caries were 7. 00%,12. 66%,70. 33%,7. 97%,and 21. 94%,while in school- year of 2010- 2011,the incidence rates were 6. 25%, 13. 81%,72. 40%,9. 02% and 24. 88%,respectively. It was found that poor eyesight was the most prevailing health problem among students. In addition,the incidence of obesity,poor eyesight,trachoma and dental caries were increasing. Conclusion Poor eyesight was most frequent in primary and middle school students in Hangzhou city. In addition,malnutrition,dental caries,obesity and other common diseases can not be ignored,which need to take targeted measures to improve the current status.
