Abstract
Objective The present study was undertaken to assess the effect of oligohydramnios in third trimester on the perinatal outcome. Methods We evaluated the amniotic fluid index (AFI) by B ultrasonography to determine the volume of amniotic fluid and amniotic fluid 300ml in labour and analysed the perinatal outcome of 117 cases with oligohydramnios. Results Oligohydramnios occurred highly in 40~42 +th gestational week by 11.79% (58/491); Oligohydramnios with high risk pregnancy occurred highly in 37~39 6/7 th gestational week by 63.64% (35/55); In 117 cases of oligohydramnios, there were 50 cases of fetal distress, 37 cases of contaminated amniotic fluid of degree II, 13 cases of degree III, 2 with absence of amniotic fluid, and 2 cases of dead fetus, 1 stillbirth and 14 with low Apgar score. The perinatal mortality rate was 25.6‰, The rate of predicting oligohydramnios correctly by AFI was 93.18% (82/88). The rate of cesarean section was 74.36% (87/117). Conclusion The gravid women with oligohydramnios during labour diagnosed by ultrasonography should select the best method of delivery, basing on comprehensive examination whether there exist high risk factors as to reduce the unnecessary cacsarian section and improve the perinatal outcome.
