Abstract
Objective To analyze the correlation between CD+4 cell counts and the related symptoms of human immume deficiency virus(HIV) as well as the opportunistic infections in patients with HIV/acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)(HIV/AIDS).Method Totally,122 HIV/AIDS patients with initial antiretroviral therapy in the Fifth Hospital Affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University were classified by CD+4 cell counts into Group A(CD+4 cell counts100/mm3),group B(CD+4 cell counts 100-200/mm3),and group C(CD+4 cell counts 201-350/mm3).The correlation between HIV related symptoms and opportunistic infection in the three groups was analyzed. Results The differences in fever between group A and group C,and between group B and C were statistically significant(P0.05).The difference in diarrhea between groups A and C was statistically significant(P0.05).The differences in oral thrush and hairy leukoplakia between groups A and B,and those in oral thrush and hairy leukoplakia, skin lesions, tuberculosis(cloud pulmonary tuberculosis and extrapulmonary tuberculosis),pneumocystis jirocevi pneumonia, and disseminated fungal disease between groups A and C were statistically significant(P0.05).Conclusion The patients with CD+4 cell counts 201-350/mm3 have minor HIV related symptoms and less probability of developing severe opportunistic infections.Early antiretroviral treatment will help improve the quality of life of AIDS patients.
