Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of Bax and hMLH1 in variant lesions of esophageal mucosa epithelium. Methods The expression of Bax and hMLH1 in normal and variant lesions of esophageal mucosa epithelium were detected by immunohistochemistry, and analyzed the relationship with clinicopathological parameters. Results The positive expression rate of hMLH1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was significantly lower than that in normal esophageal mucosa epithelium, atypical hyperplasia and carcinoma in situ(P0.05).The positive expression rate of Bax in carcinoma in situ and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma was significantly higher than that in normal esophageal mucosa epithelium(P0.05).The expression of hMLH1 in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma had close correlation with that of Bax.Conclusion hMLH1 gene mutation may be related with the carcinogensis of the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma;and Bax gene mutation may be related with the progression of the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
