HU Shi and Chinese Ci Xue in 20th Century

In the 20th century, HU Shi's research of Ci put great impact on the Ci's new construction. In the 20s and 30s, he developed the thought of WANG Guo-wei's and criticized the most four famous poets of the Qing Dynasty. And,the opinions protested him and supported him Ci into two genres the contemporary history——the genres in the system and out of the system. Later, 1950s and 1960s, as an authority of bourgeois academic theory,HU Shi became the target of the criticizing. But his thinking was well-accepted by HU Yun-yi's The Selection Of Song Ci. Until 1980s, people began to adjust the attitude. The value of his theory of Ci has been beyond itself and the theory has became the weather-vane of the 20th century's theory of Ci.
