Abstract
Objective The aims of this study were to evaluate the effects of urgent hemoperfusion on paraquat poisoning.Methods At the emergency intensive care unit(EICU) of West China Hospital,Sichuan University,66 patients with acute paraquat poisoning were divided into 2 groups(group1,hemoperfusion,n=30,and group2,without hemoperfusion,n=30).The differences of therapeutic effects were evaluated with statistical analysis.Results 10 patients(33.3%) with hemoperfusion died.29 patients(80.3%) without hemoperfusion died.This study indicates significant difference between two groups(χ2=15.08,P=0.0013).Conclusion Urgent hemoperfusion can decrease the mortality of paraquat poisoning.
