The Influence of Etomidate on Convulsant ED50 Induced by Chlorprocaine and Ropivacaine in Mice

Objective:To observe the influence of etomidate on convulsion ED50(50% effective dose) induced by chlorprocaine and ropivacaine in mice.Methods:64 mice were randomly divided into four groups(n=16): chlorprocaine group,ropivacaine group,etomidate + chlorprocaine group,etomidate + ropivacaine group.The mice were administrated by intraperitoneal injection(ip) and the convulsant ED50 was determined by sequential method.Results:Compared with chlorprocaine group,the convulsant ED50 of etomidate+chlorprocaine group was increased apparently(P0.01);compared with ropivacaine group,the convulsant ED50 of etomidate+ropivacaine group was increased significantly(P0.01).Conclusions:Pior to administration by some etomdiate can increase the convulsant threshold of chlorprocaine or ropivacaine that is etomdiate can prevent the convulsant effects induced by local anesthetics to some extent.
