Abstract

For the further exploration of water and nitrogen fertilizer on wheat starch content, with wheat cultivar AiKang 58 as test material,a field experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of two irrigation treatments of no irrigation(W0),irrigation at jointing stage(W1) and four nitrogen application rates per hectare of 0(N0),180(N1),240(N2),300 kg(N3) and their combinations on the contents and components of starch in wheat grains. The results showed that N2 treatment(N 240 kg·hm-2) could increase the total starch and amylopectin content in grain of winter wheat AiKang 58,and decrease the amylose/amylopectin ratio, and could also increase the wheat grain yield. However, both of N0 or N3 treatment(N 300 kg·hm-2) treatments decreased the accumulation of starch, and resulted in the decrease of grain yield.Among the irrigation treatments, the W1 treatment could promote the increment of total starch and amylopectin content and decrease the amylose/amylopectin ratio, compared with the W0 treatment. In conclusion,in this experimental condition, the treatment of N 240 kg·hm-2 application combined with irrigation at jointing stage would be the ideal management practice to increase wheat grain yield and improve starch quality in the study region.
