Summary of the Seed Dormancy Types and the Breaking Methods

The researches on the seed dormancy types and the breaking methods were summarized.According to various criteria,seed dormancy could be classified into various types.The influencing factors of seed dormancy were complicated,including seed structure,the effect of hormone and inhibitor,the effect of phytochrome,and the development of embryo and so on.The molecular genetics researches indicated that seed dormancy was generally quantitative genetic trait influenced by a large number of genes.The seed dormancy could be broken by using the physical methods,chemical methods or composite ways according to the dormancy mechanism.
