Abstract
The researches on the seed dormancy types and the breaking methods were summarized.There are basically two categories of dormancy,one is caused by seed coat,the other is caused by embryo.In fact,seed dormancy is very complicated,there are two sleep types at the same time,because of being influenced by complex and diverse variety of factors,then the way of breaking seed dormancy also will be complex and diverse.The dormancy breaking methods include temperature treatment,mechanical treatment,stratification,light treatment,hormone treatment,and chemical treatment.And using the comprehensive methods to break dormancy is more effective than a mono-treatment for those seeds that induced dormancy by complicated factors.
