The Efficacy of Shugan Jieyu Capsule Combined with Venlafaxine in Treatment of Senile Depression

Objective To explore the clinical curative effect of Shugan Jieyu capsule joint venlafaxine as the treatment of senile depression. Methods From June 2010 to June 2012,118 patients of greater than60 years old with depression from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University were selected and randomly divided into the control group and observation group,59 patients in each group. The control group was given venlafaxine treatment,the observation group was added with Shugan Jieyu capsule. The clinical curative effect of the two groups,Hamilton depression rating scale( HAMD),self-rating depression scale( SDS) score and the side effects scale( TESS) rating after six weeks were observed and compared. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 91. 53% after treatment,of the control group was84. 75%. So,there was significant difference between the two groups( P 0. 05),and SDS and HAMD scores reduced obviously with the increase of drug use cycle. Compared with the control group,HAMD and SDS score of the observation group were much better after two weeks treatment( P 0. 05); adverse reactions and TESS score of the observation group were significantly lower than the control group( P 0. 05). Conclusion The clinical effect of Shugan Jieyu capsule combined with venlafaxine as treatment for senile depression is remarkable with fewer side effects,which is worth of wide application in clinical.
