Abstract

The reasons for the fracture of a booster pump shaft made of SATA276TY410(equivalent to the domestic 1Cr13) are discussed. The results of fracture analysis, metallographic examination and chemical composition analysis of the fracture show that the booster pump shaft fracture is fatigue fracture. It begins from the left intermediate straight section of liberty terminal shaft and is mainly caused by metal coating cracks and stripping. The coating cracks are concealed crack sources on the shaft surface, the extension of which might lead to fatigue fracture.
