Abstract
Objective To study the relationship of integrin alpha-2(ITGA2) gene C807T polymorphism with cerebral infarction and the effect of integrin gene polymorphism on plasma lipid and lipoprotein levels. Methods 150 patients with cerebral infarction were selected as the cerebral infarction group and 170 healthy subjects as the control group. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP) was used to detect the genotype of the ITGA2 gene in the two groups. The plasma lipid and lipoprotein levels were measured by routine method. Resuits Compared with the control group,plasma total cholesterol,triglyceride and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C) levels in the patients with cerebral infarction were significantly higher (P0.05). The difference of distribution of ITGA2 gene C807T polymorpbism between the 2 groups was statistically significant (P0.05). The relative risk for cerebral infarction in subjects carrying T allele was 1.690 times of that in the C allele carriers (OR = 1.690, 95% CI: 1.219-2.341). The level of plasma lipid in cerebral infarction patients carrying T allele was significantly higher than that in not carriers (P0.05). Conclusions ITGA2 gene C807T polymorphism was associated with cerebral infarction. 807 T allele may be the genetic susceptibility gene for cerebral infarction. ITGA2 gene C807T polymorphism may affect cerebral infarction through plasma lipid and lipoprotein levels.
