Abstract
A novel complex of Zn(p-HPO)_2Cl_2(p-HPO=4-pyridone) was synthesized by the reaction of ZnCl_2·4H_2O and 4-hydroxypyridine in an alcohol solution, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The title complex belongs to monoclinic system with space group C2/c, cell parameters: a=1.31839(19)nm, b=1.1238(3)nm, c=0.87379(18)nm, β=106.401(11)o. V=1.2419(5)nm3, Z=4, M_r=326.49, D_c=1.746g/cm3, μ=2.397mm -1, F(000)=656, R=0.0380, wR=0.0943. The Zn(II) atom is four-coordinated by two O atoms from 4-HPO ligands and two Cl - anions, displaying a distorted tetrahedral geometry. Furthermore, a 2-D Hydrogen bonding superamolecular network is constructed via the intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
