Abstract

Objective The acute toxic and chronic toxic effect of Xiongbitong capsule(XBTC) was observed in this paper.Methods ①40 mice were divided into 2 groups.The experimental group was given XBTC 10g/kg whereas the control group was given amount of normal saline(NS).Secondly,80 mice,divided into 8 groups were given different dose of XBTC.The effects were observed for 7 days.②80 rats were divided into 4 groups(large,middle,small dose groups and control group).The experimental groups were given different dose of XBTC for 42 days,whereas the control group was given equal amount of NS.Results ①The result showed that there is no significant difference in various physiological signs between the two groups.This suggested that the maximum endurance dose of the drug be showed not more than 10/kg.The LD 50 is 16.1±1.51g/kg.The s x50 is 0.0126.②The result showed that there is no significant difference in behavior,diet,feces,body weight and blood of animal, and the pathology change of liver and kidney change little.Conclusion This suggests that XBTC is a nonpoisonous substance.
