Rectification of the Mistakes in the Imperial Collection of Poems in Paintings of Difference

Edited and collated by Chen Bangyan and et al in Qing Dynasty under the imperial edict, the Imperial Collection of Poems in Paintings through the Ages is a full-length poetic anthology, in which, the poems of the Tang Dynasty are chosen from the Complete Works of the Poets in Tang Dynasty. After a careful study, we have found that the editors and collators have neglected the source materials while relying excessively on the Complete Works of the Poets in Tang Dynasty. Furthermore, the editors and collators have adopted a biased principle of poems collecting and an improper way of poems collating. Due to these reasons and the editors' oversight, there are some serious mistakes in the anthology. In this article, the author have probed briefly into these problems and put forward the rectification of these mistakes.
