Abstract
Dapu in Meizhou,Guangdong is one place with many characteristic dwellings where Hakka people live. And there is also the most complete range of characteristic residential architecture in Meizhou and around Hakka areas,so that it can be called the Grand View Garden of characteristic Hakka residential architectures. On the basis of the existing research results,the author repeatedly went to Dapu for on-the-spot investigation according to the working needs to research projects,and observed carefully internal and external features of every dwelling there. This paper summarizes building type,structure form,decorative art and cultural connotation of the Dapu Hakka dwellings,describes unique charm of the Dapu Hakka architectural arts,so as to offer reference and practical significance for protection and utilization of Dapu Hakka dwellings.
