Ore Petrology of the Shangxikeng Molybdenum Deposit in Wuyishan, Fujian Province

Abstract

The Shangxikeng molybdenum deposit in Wuyishan, Fujian Province is a medium hydrothermal type deposit. Based on field investigations and ore mineralogical studies, this paper researches the characteristics of ore petrology and mineralogy of molybdenite in the Shangxikeng molybdenum deposit. The results show that the main ore natural types are structural breccia type and quartz vein type. The ore structures include breccia , disseminated and small vein structures. The ores mainly display fine-medium fine grained platy texture with few thick tabular texture. The ore minerals (only molybdenite) are leaden in color, and show obvious polychroism and 2H polymorph. The mineral is low in impurity content, and the content of Re is 1.479~34.35Ug/g, indicating the ores originate from a crust-mantle mixed source. As a kind of associated elements, Re is of some comprehensive utilization value.
