Abstract
Objective To study the therapeutic effect and adverse reaction of per rectum administration of misoprostol in the prevention of postpartum hemorrhage after cesarean section.Method Fifty patients underwent cesarean section with high risk of postpartum hemorrhage were randomized into two groups,25 cases in the study group and 25 cases in the control group. In the study group,400 μg of misoprostol was given per rectum after the cesarean section. In the control group,no specific treatment was done. The amount of bleeding within operation,2 h and 24 h after delivery were observed. Results The amount of bleeding within operation had no significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).But there were significant differences in the amount of bleeding 2 h and 24 h after delivery between the two groups(P0.05).The average amount of bleeding 2 h after delivery in the study group was(126±51.9) ml,and(182±53.6) ml in the control group.Similarly,24 h after delivery,in the study group was(382±60.2) ml,and(432±62.8) ml in the control group. Conclusion Per rectum administration of misoprostol can promote contractibility of uterus,it is a safe, effective approach in the prevention of postpartum hemorrhage after cesarean section.
