A modified transverse incision epicanthoplasty with concurrent double eyelid plasty

Objective To explore the techniques of Epicanthoplasty with concurrent double eyelid plasty,observe the effect of the shape of double eyelid and epicanthus scar conditions after correction.Methods Transverse incision was applied for epicanthoplasty,the malpositioned orbicularis was excised after skin undermining,the medial canthal tendon was plicated.Double eyelid plasty was performed as usual.However,the incision of eyelidplasty was connected with the incision of epicanthoplasty by skin tunnel.Results From Aug.2008 to Mar.2011,192 cases were treated.One month postoperatively,7 patients occurred redness in the medical canthal incision,all of these redness lasting for 1 month and gradually disappeared in about 3 months.Softening gradually after 3 months,187 cases have followed up 3 months to 18 months,satisfactory results was obtained.Conclusion The modified transverse incision epicanthoplasty with concurrent double eyelid plasty has natural form of double eyelids and minimal scarring at the medical cantha.It is a simple procedure that can corrected epicanthus completely.
