Long-term follow-up of the severe gluteal muscle contracture with the procedure of traditional muscle and fascia release combined with rising the gluteus maximus attachments

[Objective]To evaluate the long-term outcomes of gluteal muscle contracture with the procedure of traditional muscle and fascia release combined with rising the gluteus maximus attachments. [Methods]Totally 160 patients were divided into two groups,one group treated with the traditional surgical procedure,the other received the procedure of traditional muscle and fascia release combined with rising the gluteus maximus attachments.At the latest follow-up,the improved abduction contracture of the hip were compared in two groups,further more one outcome Scoring were introduced to evaluate the long-term outcomes.[Results]At the latest follow-up,the group underwent the traditional muscle and fascia release combined with rising the gluteus maximus attachments procedure had more improved abduction contracture and higher outcome scoring.[Conclusion]Traditional muscle and fascia release combined with rising the gluteus maximus attachments procedure have a more satisfactory clinical outcome compared with traditional surgical procedure.
