Abstract

Objective To evaluate the periodontal implication of self-ligating brackets. Methods Thirty patients with malocclusion were randomly selected. The patients were divided into two groups:Group T1(self-ligating brackets,Damon3)and Group T2(3M Gemini MBT).A follow-up examination of mandibular incisor was carried out after three months and six months, respectively. The periodontal condition was scored according to three parameters:GI,PLI,OHI-S.Results Before treatment, the GI,PLI and OHI-S had no statistical difference. After 3 and 6 months respectively,GI,PLI and OHI-S were obviously lower than those of the control group, the difference having statistical significance. Conclusion Compared with traditional brackets, the self-ligating brackets are better for peridontal health.
