A Study of NIU Seng-ru's Creation of Tales of the Marvellous

NIU Seng-ru was a well-known writer of tales of the marvellous in the Tang Dynasty,and his collection of short stories,Records of Strange and Mystery Beings,has been considered to be representative of literary tales of the Tang.NIU's tales of the mythical and unusual are a reflection of real life,human feelings and the ways of the world,and there are in them a series of images of foxes,evil spirits,ghosts and monsters created with distinctive features,as a result of which hebegins to concentrate on writing stories,succeeds in constructing the basic pattern of the story structure,and has an important place in the evolutionary history of the Chinese classic novels.
