Abstract
Objective To study the expression of BDNF and TrkB protein in post-stroke depression(PSD)rats and its role in pathogenesis of PSD.Methods Twenty-four adult SD rats were randomly divided into normal control group, depression group, stroke group and model group(6in each group).A rat focal cerebral ischemia model was established by Longa occlusion and a rat PSD model was induced by chronic unpredicted moderate stress and separate breeding.Expression of BDNF and TrkB positive cells was detected by immunohistochemistry on day 29.Results The number of BDNF-positive cells was significantly less in PSD model group than in normal control group and depression group(P0.05).The number of TrkB-positive cells was significantly less in PSD model group than in normal control group, stroke group and depression group(P0.01). Conclusion The down-regulated expression of BDNF and TrkB protein in PSD rats is related with the pathogenesis of PSD.
