Abstract
Objective To explore clinical characteristics of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Method A retrospective study was performed on 60 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Results Diabetic peripheral neuropathy involved the sensory or motor nervous system,as well as the involuntary(autonomic)nervous system.Electromyography(EMG)showed neurological damage, nerve conduction velocity check presented slowed down nerve conduction velocity(NCV).However the levels of acidum folicum and vitamin B12 in the blood were nearly normal. Conclusion Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a more common disorder which impacts severely the quality of life of the patient.Early diagnosis and treatment are the key points to decrease the extent of disability secondary to diabetic peripheral neuropathy and improve the quality of life of the patient.Electromyography and nerve conduction velocity check are helpful tools to clinical diagnosis.
