Abstract
Obesity manifests spleen-deficiency in origin, phlegm and blood stasis in superficiality. It belongs to origin-deficiency and superficiality-excess. The basic pathogenesis of Obesity relates to eating too much without enough movement thus leading to damage of spleen and stomach, stasis of essence and qi. When essence can't be transformed into qi,qi becomes deficient, and when qi can't be promoted well,qi becomes clogged, and so to the blood,Metabolic disorder of fluid leads to phlegm and dampness,Essence which can't be metabolized properly will be transformed into fat,Blood stasis is one of the basic pathogenic factors of obesity. Combination with blood-activating medicine in treatment is necessary for syndrome differentiation and treatment and also is the requirement of preventive treatment of disease.
