Abstract
Objective:To detect the levels of Th1 cytokine (IFN-γ) and Th2 cytokine (IL-10) in peripheral blood of patients with vitiligo, and to investigate their roles in the pathogenesis of vitiligo and the relationship between these cytokines and disease activity. Methods:The level of IFN-γ and IL-10 in peripheral blood from 35 vitiligo patients (20 active cases and 15 stable cases) and 20 normal control group were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Results:The level of IFN-γ was no different in the two groups(P0.05). The level of IL-10 in active vitiligo patients was higher than in stable vitiligo patients (P0.05). The level of IL-10 in active vitiligo patients was higher than controls (P0.05). The level of IL-10 in stable vitiligo patients was higher than controls (P0.05). Conclusion:Th2 cytokine may predominate in vitiligo and be involved in the pathogenesis of vitiligo.
