Comparison of 4 fixatives in HE staining quality of frozen sections

Abstract

Objective To observe the HE staining quality of frozen sections fixed by four dfferent kinds of fixatives,so as to select the best fixative for fixing fresh tissue sections.Methods Sixty fresh tissues sections,which included 18 cases of benign lesions and 42 cases of malignant lesions,were fixed by acetone,95% alcohol,AAF and modified AAF.Results Sections fixed by acetone and 95% alcohol got poor HE staining Results,those fixed by AAF got better Results,while those fixed by modified AAF got the best Results.Conclusion The HE staining effect by compound fixative is better than by simple fixative.Modified AAF can produce the best HE staining Results in all of the four fixatives.
