Significance of detection of serum TRAb levels in diagnosis of patients with thyoid disease

Objective To inyestigate the value of serum TRAb levels in diagnosis of patients with autoimmune thyroid disease.Methods The levels of serum TRAb(by RRA),FT3 and FT4(by RIA) were measured in 185 patients with thyroid disease as well as in 50 normal people.Results The average levels of serum TRAb,SSTRAb,FT3 and FT4 in autoimmune thyroid disease group and normal people group were(85.4±30.7) and(5.4±0.7)U/L,92.2 % and 0%,(15.4±7.8) and(5.1±1.7)mmol/L,(40±16) and(17±3)mmol/L respectively.The average levels and positive rates of serum TRAb were significantly higher in patients with Graves' disease and Hashimoto's disease than those in normal group.There was no significant correlations between serum TRAb levels and FT3,FT4 levels in patients with Graves' disease.Conclusion Detection of TRAb levels are important for diagnosis of autoimmune thyoid disease,especially to Graves' disease.
